WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s still a few days until the start of tournament play at the Wells Fargo Championship, but fans did not have to wait for Thursday to see some golf at Eagle Point Golf Club.
The fun started Monday morning with a Pro-Am tournament featuring Carolina Panthers Head Coach Ron Rivera.
Fresh off of the NFL Draft Rivera competed at Eagle Point against dozens of other teams paired up with professionals. Rivera and his wife Stephanie were in a group with pro D.A. Points.
Coach said that his wife out-played him, but he enjoyed the experience.
“It’s nice to be out here, be with the fans, be with the people here to support the Wells Fargo, and it was just neat. It really was,” Rivera said.
The Pro-Am gave fans a chance to get a taste of golf action before the real show later this week.
