Walk MS: Wilmington raises funds for Multiple Sclerosis Society

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Hundreds of people are expected to walk Saturday to end multiple sclerosis for good.  The Walk MS: Wilmington aims to team up friends, loved ones and co-workers to change the world for everyone affected by MS.

Rebecca DePreta is a local teacher with MS who is taking part in the walk this Saturday and she encourages everyone to come out and support the community. She says by participating and fundraising, you may help more people than you realize.

The money raised is used so people with MS can live their best life with more connections to information, resources, and others with shared experiences.  It also helps with research and care for MS sufferers.

The goal this year is to raise $64,000.

Individuals and teams can pre-register at www.nationalmssociety.org or on day of event.

The event starts at 9 a.m. Saturday and the walk steps off at 10 a.m. at Greenfield Lake Park.
