Northside residents voice concerns at public forum

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Our partners at Starnews are digging deeper to see what those living on the Northside of Wilmington face on a daily basis.

Wednesday night they held a forum to discuss the various challenges. Five panelists led the discussion, including Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo, E.B Davis, Dave Nathans, Evelyn Bryant, and Adrienne Vendetti Hodges.

Davis has lived in Wilmington for more than 50 years and says a lot needs to be done in the Northside.

Besides the economy, what he calls run down streets and the lack of bathrooms at neighborhood parks, Davis hopes events like this will actually make a difference.

“Some substance. Not just talk,” Davis said. “The community coming together working with the elected officials. Working within the community not just downtown but around town.”

Tonight’s event is the second of several public forums Starnews is putting on to get insight about various issues in surrounding areas across the cape fear.
