WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Historic Wilmington Foundation held their 20th annual Preservation Awards ceremony tonight.
It’s quite fitting to hold it in the historic New Hanover county courthouse.
The award ceremony serves as an opportunity to acknowledge the people and projects that preserve the history in The Cape Fear.
There were 13 projects honored at the event and members of the community were invited to recognize their efforts.
“To see the excitement and to see the satisfaction that people get out of being recognized for hard work that they didn’t set out to be recognized for, and then to have somebody say thank you publicly, I think it’s very gratifying,” George R. Edwards, Historic Wilmington Foundation executive director, said.
The ceremony was also sponsored by Residents of Old Wilmington, New Hanover County and Wilmington Downtown Incorporated.
