WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority Board of Directors approved its budget for the next fiscal year Wednesday amid a controversy over the safety of the system’s drinking water.
The approved budget included a 2.05-percent increase water rate for CFPUA customers.
The board has decided to revisit the rate increase and possibly reconsider their original decision.
CFPUA Board member Skip Watkins said you do not raise rates in a time of uncertainty.
Watkins initially said they would re-vote on Monday, but that has changed. Watkins said they will still be voting on the decision, but at a later date.
