Wilmington, N.C (WWAY) – The National Hurricane Center has issued their first advisory for Tropical Storm Irma, currently located about 420 miles to the west of the Cabo Verde Islands.
As of 11 a.m., Irma has wind speeds of 50 mph and is moving to the west at 13 mph. The storm is expected to strengthen to a Category 1 hurricane by Friday morning, as it continues to the west.
