OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Thousands came to the 28th annual Oak Island Arts and Crafts Festival.
Organizers did not let the rain stop the event.
It was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was moved to Sunday because of the weather.
There were all kinds of creative homemade items like crafts, jewelry and paintings.
More than 140 vendors were there selling their art and creative pieces.
One vendor at the festival, Diana Aklan, said she has been selling her products at this event for years.
“It’s just a wonderful way for people to fraternize and show what people are capable of. Some of the talent here is, it’s amazing…it’s absolutely amazing and most of it is home grown,” Aklan said.
This festival is held every year on the Saturday before Labor Day.
Organizers said the event grows every year.
