BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – The Emergency Services in Brunswick County are actively monitoring hurricane Irma and are preparing their resources.
The command center has answered calls all week from concerned neighbors. The services are operating in a monitoring mode right now.
They have not activated the command center, but that is the next step if the storm changes course possibly threatening the county.
Emergency management officials are getting their equipment and personnel ready just in case.
“Whether it tracks back to the east or whether it tracks more to the west, we’re going to get some form of impact it’s just a matter of what. So our crews are working diligently with some last minute checks just to make sure everything is good to go,” says Deputy Director Scott Garner.
The emergency services is urging neighbors to keep a close eye on the news and online for any updates on if they decide to activate the command center.
