TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) — A Tabor City man is recovering after coming home and being shot by a person who was robbing his house.

Montgomery Lowery came home around 2:45 p.m. Friday on Dothan Road to find his front door open.  A young, slender, male, dressed in all black, wearing a blue bandana on his face walked out and approach Lowery’s car where he was still inside. The suspect showed a handgun and attempted to open the car.

Lowery tried to drive away but that’s when the suspect shot at him, hitting Lowery in his arm.

The suspect then left on foot.

Lowery was transported to a South Carolina medical facility for treatment.

Columbus County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office in locating the suspect.

Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office assisted the search with their helicopter and a K-9. The search for the suspect was unsuccessful.
