LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Next week thousands of film enthusiasts will converge in downtown Wilmington for the 23rd Annual Cucalorus Film Festival.
It brings people from around the world to the Port City to celebrate independent movies.
Today Leland was able to get a small preview in a way that has never been done before.
Leland Cultural Arts Center hosted a free preview of seven short films that will be in the film festival coming up next week.
The short films being shown were picked specifically for the expected audience.
Filmmakers came to enjoy the preview of their shorts and were available for a Q&A during the event.
The Cultural Arts Manager said this is an exciting time.
“What it really means to us here is that the partnership that we’re building with the people like Cucalorus and the Wilmington Arts Council and all the different agencies over there, that it’s really coming to fruition and we have a good number of people taking notice of what we have here,” Cultural Arts Manager Julianne Scott said.
During the preview three all-access passes to the film festival were given away.
The festival is Wednesday through Sunday in downtown Wilmington.
