Pender Co. program will pay one heating bill for low income households


PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Pender County Department of Social Services is offering Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) once again this year.

The program assist low income households with the expense of their heating source once a year.

Heating bill and verification of all household income must be provided at application.

From December 1-31, applications will be taken only for households with an elderly person, age 60 and above, or a disabled person receiving SSI, SSA, or VA benefits and receiving services through the Division of Aging and Adult Services.

January 2-March 31, applications will be take for any household, as long as funds are available.

For eligible households, approval will be based on availability of funds once all application information is received. Energy payments will be paid directly to the heating provider/company.
