LELAND, NC (WWAY) — It’s truly a proud time to talk about the fantastic athletes in our area. Not just the college athletes but also the soon to be college athletes.

Over on the campus of North Brunswick High school, four athletes put pen to paper on their national letters of intent.

Kaan Kurt will bowl for the Shockers. Landen Wright is off to Queen’s College for baseball. Alisa Maldonado and Jessica Williams will play softball at North Carolina A&T and UNC Pembroke respectively.

The journey to this day was not an easy one for these athletes and they say it’s all thanks in part to the roles of their families.

“They’ve sacrificed so much time on the weekends and going to play travel ball,” Wright said. “They’ve just supported me throughout everything and it’s really nice to have them there.”
“Without them I don’t know where I’d be at this point,” Kurt said. “They’re my backbone. They do everything for me. They’re a huge support and my number one fans. As you saw from my mom, she’s the number one fan.”

Congratulations to you all and best of luck in the future!
