Man charged in more than 16 breaking and entering cases

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The suspect wanted for 16 cases of breaking and entering throughout New Hanover County was arrested while trying to sell tools out of his truck, the sheriff’s office says.

John David Horn, 47, faces 16 counts of breaking and entering charges, as well as larceny and obtaining property by false pretense charges.

The sheriff’s office says they had been investigating several  B&E’s over the last couple of weeks and had received word the suspect was driving a black Ford Ranger.

On Tuesday, a Carolina Beach detective who is cross sworn with the sheriff’s office found out a man in a black truck was selling tools out of his truck in the River Lights community.

The sheriff’s office say the man jumped into his truck and tried to drive off when the detective approached.

The detective stopped the truck and deputies came and arrested Horn.

He is in jail under a $24,000 bond.
