This is the third year the Christmas trees have been at the aquarium.

This event is presented by First Citizens Bank and The Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

Sponsors could decorate their tree in memory of a loved one or in tribute of a special person.

There are also two memory trees and people can write names of a loved one to place on the tree.

“I think that’s something different, I’ve never seen before personally but I’m pretty sure they did it in the past and I love it, the kids love it, come in like oh trees,” volunteer Andrea Bannerman said. “I’m a big Christmas person anyways, but I love it just to walk around the aquarium and see all of these trees.”

The Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation says this is one of the most unique festivities on the Cape Fear coast.

They event started November 20th will last until December 31st.
