BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County man is headed to prison after he robbed a Boiling Spring Lakes homeowner and cut the person with a paint brush scraper.
District Attorney Jon David said Armel Dozier, of Boiling Spring Lakes, was sentenced to 6-8 years in prison after pleading guilty to Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Felony Larceny.
The charges came about after Dozier, broke and entered an unoccupied home belonging to a Boiling Spring Lakes man on November 29, 2016. The home owner arrived home, while Dozier was still inside. Dozier robbed the home owner of his wallet with the use of a paint brush scraper, which was already located in the home. Dozier ended up cutting the home owner, resulting in minor injuries, and stealing a second wallet located in the home before fleeing. Boiling Spring Lakes Police were able to locate and detain Dozier within minutes of receiving the 911 call. All of the stolen items were recovered as well as the paint brush scrapper used in the assault.
Assistant District Attorney Jacob Ward stated, “It is truly unfortunate and unacceptable when someone physically assaults another for personal gain. No one should have to fear being assaulted or threatened into giving over their money or property. Our office will continue to aggressively prosecute defendants that commit these types of crimes.”
