Seahawk Men look to avenge blowout loss to Hofstra

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — There will only be one game for the UNCW Seahawks Men’s Basketball team. But considering the event and the opponent, it’s a big one.

Today at his weekly news conference Coach C.B. McGrath said his team didn’t show the needed effort to get the win against Hofstra last week, a game that ended in a 20 point loss. In the trip to Northeastern, the Seahawks showed more fight, but could not get the stops when they needed to.

This week they have the chance to avenge the loss to Hofstra as they welcome in the Pride to Trask for the homecoming game this Saturday.

Coach McGrath said it’s good to have familiarity with a team, but UNCW will need to bring the effort because the CAA has proven they always will against the Team in Teal.

“Based on our record, we’re competing really hard, it’s just not a gimme game no matter where we fall in the standings,” Coach McGrath said. “In saying that, UNCW has been pretty good over the last few years and everybody wants to get ready to play UNCW because of what’s happened over the last few years. We don’t do ourselves any favors by starting off slow or not competing for 40 minutes because they’re going to come at us.”

Coach adds that the team showed much better energy in practice this week and they will continue to work on themselves ahead of Saturday’s contest.
