NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The college signings continued Thursday in Wilmington, this time over at Cape Fear Academy where three more athletes are heading to the next level.
Cole Boggio, Delaney Mitchell, and Chase Carraway all signed their national letters of intent to colleges.
The NCISAA All-State goalie Mitchell signed to play soccer at Towson.
Boggio is an All-State attacker in lacrosse and will be playing for Roanoke College.
Finally, Carraway is a National Singlehanded Sailing Champion and will sail for Hobart College.
Each athlete said it is an incredible moment, but one that took plenty of hard work.
“Almost every weekend I’d be playing in showcase in front of coaches. There’s a lot of traveling and my parents and siblings had to give up a lot. It took a lot of time and effort but it was worth it at the end,” Boggio said.
“I’ve been training in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for the last four years. Every weekend, three to four times a month on the weekends. It’s a lot but I love it,” Carraway said.
“It’s a lot of hours of practice and going to ID camps. I played a lot of tournaments and games when I could’ve been hanging out with friends or sleeping. It took a lot of work but I couldn’t be more excited,” Mitchell said.
Congratulations to these students and best of luck in college.
