LELAND, NC (WWAY) — A new era has begun at North Brunswick High School where the football team transitions into their third head coach in as many years. Tonight Scorpion fans got the opportunity to talk to the new man in charge of trying to lead North to the top of the conference.
It won’t come easy for Coach Bryan Davis, North Brunswick struggled in the Mideastern Conference last year, but coach wants to change that.
In his previous coaching stint at Topsail, Coach Davis and the Pirates would scrimmage North Brunswick and that’s when he determined coaching in Leland would be a dream opportunity for him.
Fans at Scorp Town certainly hope he can bring back the continuity and success the Scorpions had during the time under Coach Gary Bishop, and of course add a state title to their banners.
“I think that we have the talent here that’s going to allow us to do that,” Coach Davis said. “As long as we put the work ethic behind it and all the things that it takes to be a champion, we can compete with the New Hanover’s of this league. It’s going to be very formidable. We’re going to get after it pretty good and I’m excited about the opportunity.”
“Not just his knowledge of the game and the x’s and o’s part, but we liked the quality of the person that he is,” North Brunswick Athletic Director Randy Fennell said. “His outreach in the community and the way that he goes out and tries to make young men better young men is great. We’re excited about the whole aspect that Bryan brings to the table.”
Coach Davis says this program has nowhere to go but up and he hopes his experience from his past four coaching gigs can help him create a culture change for the better.
