Oak Island looking for police, fire volunteers, Beach Ambassadors


OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Retired and looking for something to pass the time, maybe even at the beach? Oak Island is looking for volunteers to help the police and fire departments and serve as Beach Ambassadors.

In a news release, the town says it is interested in retired police officers to serve as police volunteers to help enforce parking regulations and retired firefighters to drive a truck in parades or work community events.

The town also says it needs Beach Ambassadors, who help explain the beach rules to visitors.
