GREENVILLE, North Carolina (UNCWSports.com) – Connor Litton homered to highlight a four-run second inning as 12th-ranked East Carolina topped UNCW 6-4 on Tuesday at Clark-LeClair Stadium.
The Pirates improved to 21-6 on the season while the Seahawks dropped to 19-9.
Litton finished with two hits and knocked in two runs. Drew Hendrickson added two hits and scored a run.
Alec Burleson (2-0) earned the win in relief for the Pirates and Ryan Ross nailed down his third save.
UNCW starter Breydan Gorham (0-3) suffered the loss, allowing four runs in two innings.
Up next: The Seahawks host Wofford in a three-game series beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
How it happened: The Pirates roughed up Gorham for four runs in the bottom of the second to take a 4-1 lead. Litton lead off the inning with his sixth homer of the season and Bryant Packard and Brady Lloyd added RBI singles.
