WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Carolina Panthers Coach Ron Rivera is in the Port City sharing stories about his career for a good cause.
Rivera spoke at a luncheon at the Wilmington Convention Center. He also talked about his life, golf and of course the panthers.
His distinguished career includes 9 NFL seasons with the Chicago bears and head coach of the Carolina Panthers since 2011.
Even though his team is in Charlotte, his outreach spans across the Carolinas and he loves to give back to the fans and community that supports him.
“We do have to come out to the community and give back to them because they give so much for us,” Coach Rivera said. “We’ve been very fortunate in this area to have the kind of support that we’ve had throughout the region, throughout North and South Carolina. Being here is really our way to say thank you.”
Money raised during today’s luncheon will benefit the First Tee of Greater Wilmington which offers character-building training for teens and the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame which awards scholarships to local student athletes.
