WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — There are so many beautiful traditions that are part of the Azalea Festival. And there’s one that’s not only amazing to see, but to taste.
Each year members of the Cape Fear Garden Club bake thousands of cookies to for the audience to enjoy each year following the Azalea Garden Tour Ribbon Cutting.
They are works of art in and of themselves. The colorful designs include flowers and butterflies and even dresses and hats modeled after the fashions you might see during the Azalea Festival.
As soon as today’s ribbon cutting at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater was over, guests walked across the street to the Rotary Wheel to enjoy the treats that have become another icon of this iconic week in Wilmington.
