COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A road that closed three months ago near Chadbourn has reopened, more than a month earlier than expected.
On January 22, the contractors with the NC Department of Transportation closed NC 410 over Beaverdam Swamp to replace a 70-year-old bridge.
It’s located about four miles south of Chadbourn.
Since then, drivers had to detour on Rough and Ready Road and HWY 701. The detour was expected to last until June.
According to the NCDOT, the new bridge is in place and the road, which is a popular route to Myrtle Beach, is now open.
