PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — We’ve seen a wide variety of weather here in May, from hot, sunny days to cloudy, rainy ones. This week’s rain appears to be good news for corn crops in Pender County.

County Extension Director Mark Seitz says a few days in the 90s dried out corn crops a bit there, but wet days this week have helped get things back to normal.

Seitz says soybean planting may be a week to ten days behind schedule for some farmers. NC State recommends planting soybeans by July 15th so they still have some time to get those crops in the ground.
