WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Cape Fear Garden Club, made famous as host of the Azalea Festival Garden Tour, is shaking things up!
For the first time ever, the club has dubbed a man as president.
For more than 90 years, the organization has had women calling the shots, but now Eric Kozen is taking the reins.
Kozen joined the club about 12 years ago and is one of only three men members.
The Cape Fear Garden Club is one of the oldest and largest garden clubs in North Carolina.
Kozen says he couldn’t be more proud to be part of the organization.
“I’m very honored to be within this position,” Kozen said. “They’re very supportive and it’s just a lot of fun. It’s just hard to seriously express that but it’s truly just a wonderful, magnificent club that just does a lot of good stuff for this community.”
The Cape Fear Garden Club was formed back in 1925.
In addition to the garden tour, the non-profit is known for beautification projects throughout New Hanover County.
