WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Wrightsville Beach draws large crowds all summer long but especially during holiday weekends. Aside from the beach, the North Carolina Wildlife Wrightsville Beach Boat Access has also been seeing some heavy traffic.
Resident Shawn Laskowski said he was just trying to get his boat out to go fishing, but he told WWAY he was waiting on a spot for more than two hours. He said he tried to get to the ramp early because he knew there would be a lot of people trying to get out on the water. He said this has not been a great start to his Memorial Day weekend.
“Saturday, it is kind of expected but it is frustrating. You would think they would have some kind of overflow parking and then you get people parking their boats on their trailers and not in the water,” Laskowski said.
He said most other ramps he has been to have overflow or enough parking to where waiting for a spot does not happen. A few trucks came to the ramp, drove around waiting for a little and then left because they could not find a spot.
