BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (StarNews) — Bald Head Island’s public safety officers would be formally authorized to enforce no-wake zones under a bill sponsored by N.C. Rep. Frank Iler, R-Brunswick.
Currently, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office and N.C. Wildlife Commission have the authority to enforce the zones along Bald Head Creek, a popular tributary on the island for kayaking and paddle boarding.

“They don’t have the manpower to be in that area” to patrol the no-wake zones, Iler said. The village “has a boat and would have the ability to enforce the no-wake zone. They’d be able to enforce it themselves.”
