WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Family and friends came with balloons and flowers as thousands of students from across the Cape Fear walked across the stage for graduation.
Grads were excited as they scrambled to find their loved ones, celebrating their achievement. Students in New Hanover County walked across the stage at Trask Coliseum. Some were in tears, saying it’s hard to say goodbye to this chapter in their lives.
“It’s really hard to to leave a life that you were with for for so long. For thirteen years I was in school and then now all of a sudden, I’m gone. And so, it’s very emotional to see all your friends graduate and to see your family here, it just, it’s an indescribable feeling,” graduate Asante Deas said.
Many of the students are excited for the next stage in their life but for now are just looking forward to summer vacation.
