WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A spokesman for Wilmington International Airport says a technical issue that grounded some flights to and from Charlotte has been fixed, but things are not back to normal just yet.
American’s regional carrier, PSA Airlines, began experiencing technical issues on Thursday night, which primarily impacts flights to Charlotte. Since then, hundreds of PSA flights have been canceled.
Flight officials said the airline was experiencing a “technical issue” which primarily impacts flights to Charlotte.
ILM Deputy Director Gary Broughton says the issue has been resolved, but now crews and planes still need to get back on track.
“As of this morning, I’m told that [Tuesday] the situation has been rectified, the system is fixed and back up and running. Unfortunately, they’ve got crew members that are spread out, both crew members and aircraft that are spread out across the system that have been displaced. So they have to get them back together and get things up and running normally,” said Broughton.
Broughton said there were more cancellations Wednesday, but he expected flights would be back on schedule within a day or so.
