Non-profit works to give every reptile a fresh start

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — One organization in our area is making sure that all kinds of reptiles are loved and cared for.

Fresh Start Rescue, Inc. is an animal rescue made up of a group of volunteers who are passionate about saving the lives of homeless, unwanted or injured reptiles. The non-profit works to foster, rehab, and re-home snakes, lizards and more.

Nicole Spencer, president of Fresh Start Rescue, stopped by Good Morning Carolina to talk about the importance of correctly caring for a reptile and understanding how many have long life spans. She even brought Tesla the Tegu along!

Tomorrow, Fresh Start Rescue will celebrate it’s first full year of being a non-profit. The organization is having a fundraiser event next month that will have fun for the whole family.

On Saturday, July 28, you can come to the Juggling Gypsy (1612 Castle St, Wilmington) starting at 6 p.m. to enjoy live music, a food truck, live reptiles and more! The event is $5 to get in and all ages are welcome.
