Driver’s foot slips off brake causing SUV to crash into restaurant

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — A SUV crashed into a Leland restaurant over the weekend shattering the glass doors and causing about $10,000 in damage.

The accident occurred Sunday around 10 p.m. at the Applebee’s located at 1113 New Pointe Boulevard.

A spokesperson for the Leland Police Department said the driver of a 2008 Chrysler SUV crashed into the front of the business.

The driver told police her foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal causing the vehicle to lunge forward into the main entrance.

The accident caused an estimated $7,000 in damage to the business and an additional $3,000 to the SUV.

No one was hurt.

Police said no charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
