EMERALD ISLE, NC (WNCT) — The town of Emerald Isle says a 49-year old Kentucky woman drowned while visiting Emerald Isle Sunday evening.
The woman was identified as Donna S. Miller, from Clay City in Kentucky.
Miller was visiting Emerald Isle with a close friend and the friend’s 9-year old daughter.
Town officials said the three were reportedly caught in a rip current shortly before 7:00 p.m. near The Islander Hotel, where the three were staying for their weekend trip to the beach.
Two of them made it safely back to shore.
