WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Jewish Film Festival is a chance to discover films with Jewish content and to share common interests with the Jewish community and the general public.
This summer it is looking to entertain with it’s Summer Series. Over the next two Thursday nights you can enjoy top-notch films and a night out at Thalian Hall.
Thursday is ‘Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story’ focusing on the amazing, true story of a true Hollywood legend. Lamarr was born into an Austrian Jewish family and went on to become one of the most beautiful and glamorous stars of her era. She was also a brilliant inventor. This film unveils her complex and remarkable story.
On August 23 ‘The Band’s Visit’ tells the comedic story of a police band from Alexandria, Egypt who arrives by mistake at a desolate town in the Negev desert. It is about the events that arise before they depart the following day. The movie inspired the Tony award winning musical.
Both shows are at 7 p.m. at the Thalian Hall main stage.
