WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Legendary head football coach Bob Lewis holds one of the best all-time records in the state of North Carolina. Now, he’s being recognized for his accomplishments.
This April he will be inducted into the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame.
Lewis just retired this offseason after 41 years in the coaching ranks. The Burgaw native spent time coaching Pender, East Bladen, Whiteville, Harrells Christian and, most notably, Clinton where he put together a 322-146-6 overall record.
His run driven style produced multiple college prospects and NFL stars including two-time Super Bowl champion Willie Parker.
He won five state titles, four with the dark horses and his first one with the Eagles.
Coach Lewis, the father of South Brunswick Head Coach Rocky Lewis, will be inducted as part of an 8 person class in April of 2019.
