RICHMOND, Virginia (UNCWSports.com) – Freshman defender Talia Parrous of UNCW has been awarded the Colonial Athletic Association’s first women’s soccer Rookie-of-the-Week award for the 2018 season.
Parrous made an instant impact in helping the Seahawks open the season with a pair of victories over VCU and defending Big South Conference champion High Point.
The Fayetteville, N.C., native earned her first career assist in the Seahawks’ 3-1 victory over the Rams on Friday night before helping the UNCW defense limit the Panthers to just two shots in Sunday’s 2-0 triumph in the Seahawks’ home opener.
UNCW, off to a 2-0-0 start for the second time in three years, hits the road this weekend for a pair of non-conference contests. The Seahawks will face Virginia Tech on Friday, Aug. 24, before visiting in-state foe UNCG on Sunday, Aug. 26.
