Alleged killer and robber refuses extradition, to remain in NC

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WBTW) — The man charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of another man in a Longs Food Lion parking lot and armed robberies across state lines appeared in court in North Carolina on Monday.

The Columbus County Clerk of Court confirmed James Bellamy refused extradition during a court appearance. Bellamy’s bond was also increased to include three felony robbery with a deadly weapon charges from the Chadbourn Police Department. His bond for these charges is $500,000. Bellamy’s bond on other charges remains at $5 million.

According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, because Bellamy fought extradition, he will remain in the county until at least his next court appearance on September 14.
