UNCW Men’s Soccer now top 10 in two national rankings

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men’s soccer team’s 4-0-0 start to the season has elevated the Seahawks’ standing in the national polls, including a pair of top 10 distinctions.

The Seahawks, who are one of 10 teams in NCAA Division I that have not conceded a goal this season, moved up to No. 9 in the United Soccer Coaches national rankings while holding the top spot in the Atlantic Region poll for the second consecutive week.

In addition, Coach Aidan Heaney‘s squad also went into the top 10 of the Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 with a No. 7 ranking this week. The Seahawks are also ranked No. 30 in the College Soccer News national poll.

UNCW also made its season debut in the Soccer America Top 25 poll, earning the No. 24 position on this week’s list.

UNCW, which has posted four consecutive shutouts for the first time since 2009, returns home this weekend to host Fairfield, College of Charleston and UNC Asheville for the UNCW SpringHill Suites Classic. The Seahawks will take on Fairfield on Friday, Sept. 7, at 7:30 p.m. before closing out the tournament against UNC Asheville at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9.
