Update from Southport, Sunday afternoon update

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) The City of Southport is currently suffering from the effects of Hurricane Florence. The City remains under curfew until further notice.

The entire City is without power and most of its citizens are without water. Most or all access to the City has been cut off by flooded and/or failed roadways. The city is hearing reports from citizens that they are starting to run low on food, medicine, and other supplies.

The city says they have made requests to the State through Brunswick County for assistance.

Once the curfew is lifted we will set up a charging station at City Hall for people to charge their mobile devices. There will also be public WiFi available.
