NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A quick prayer before the community got some food. Mary C. Williams school and Christ Community Church held a large cookout in the Royal Palms Trailer Park to help get people’s minds off of Florence.
“It’s good to interact with others and find out if they had any damage and if there is anything we can help them,” Brithny Espinoza said.
They brought plenty of food for a barbeque and fed everyone in the community, including some kids from local schools. Many of those kids were grateful to see everyone doing okay.
“Seeing everyone out here makes me feel like that we’re all a community and that we all like to help people grow and people who are in devastation, how we’re helping them build forward as a community,” Mary C. Williams student Haley Heinrichs said.
“I bet everyone’s feeling happy right now because everybody, all their friends are here,” Myrtle Grove student Jeremiah Castillo said.
Even though the storm brought about a frightening experience, everyone is happy for the calm after the storm.
