WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — After deciding to push back resuming classes by another week, UNCW is now starting to look like itself again.
Chancellor Jose ‘Zito’ Sartarelli says although they had hoped for classes to resume Monday, there is still heavy equipment working on campus, and it would not be safe for students.
Sartarelli says they also realized many off-campus students were displaced by the hurricane, and the school is working to help them find places to live.
“We don’t have responsibility for people who live off campus, but we started to realize when you have 80-100 plus students who are getting displaced or have been displaced, we have to help as much as we can. So we decided to take a little more time and get back on track,” said the Chancellor.
Sartarelli says the first day of classes will not be pushed back any further.
He says all students will be able to return to their own dorm rooms.
