WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — CSX is looking into what caused a train to derail Thursday morning in Wilmington.
CSX says an empty well car, which typically carries shipping containers, derailed around 4:30 a.m.
Police directed traffic into and out of the port.
The well car was returned to the tracks just after 9 a.m. CSX says no one got hurt and there was no damage.
CSX had recently resumed service to the port following Hurricane Florence. Their first inbound train ran on Tuesday night.
