WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police released an update after a teen was shot in the Creekwood South community Thursday evening.
According to police spokeswoman Jennifer Dandron, a 15-year-old boy was shot with multiple BB guns while playing basketball around N. 30th and Clayton streets.
Police arrested three minors in connection to the shooting. Dandron said two are 12 years old and the other is 14 years old. The three were taken to the juvenile detention facility and charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon.
WPD said the shooting happened around 5:20 p.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of Emory Street. No motive has been released.
The victim had multiple wounds but Dandron said he is expected to recover.
