WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Many communities are reaching out to those in need after Hurricane Florence. For one woman, she did not expect that help to come from the members of her church.
Cecilia Lacy lived in the Reserves at Forest Hills with her daughters and they were displaced because of mold. They were eventually accepted into a new town home. Next thing she knew, her church helped her to move in and paid for her deposit to find a new place. She says this is a true act of God.
“I believe the faith community is definitely a wonderful place to seek help in times like this. A church is not a building but a church is the faith community coming together and to help and they’re living what they’re saying,” Lacy said.
She says her congregation is trying to help as many people as possible at this time and encourages others in her position to reach out to the faith community for some help.
