Fire departments paint hydrants pink to raise breast cancer awareness


NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Area fire departments are going pink to raise breast cancer awareness.

Carolina Beach Fire Department posted on Facebook that firefighters painted a hydrant in front of their station on Dow Road pink to honor those affected by breast cancer.

The department encourages you to stop by and write a message on it.

CBFD challenged Kure Beach Fire to do the same, which they have! KBFD is spreading the word by challenging Bolivia Fire Department to go pink too.

Firefighters across North Carolina are participating in the #pinkhydrantchallenge.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
