OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Police found a woman’s body when they performed a welfare check at a home on Oak Island.
According to a news release from the Town of Oak Island, officers received a call just before 10:00 a.m. to check on someone at a home in the 100 block of NE 2nd Street.
During the welfare check, officers found the body of Susan Copenhaver.
A suspect has been arrested, but has not yet been identified.
Police say the case is still developing.
