HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) — It may look like your average trunk or treat, but this is different from the usual. The Cross Creek neighborhood was hit hard by hurricane Florence. With the help of other organizations and plenty of volunteers, they put together a trunk or treat for the kids.
“We are here to provide them also with a gathering where we can do some trunk or treating and some treats for the children, plus also feed families that are here,” Carol Swartz said. “It’s a great time for fellowship and laughter and supporting each other during this time.”
Dozens of motorcycles and cars lined up for the kids to get some sweet treats. many say this helps put the bad times of Florence behind.
“Just because their lives are turned upside down that we’re not going to continue doing things for them,” said organizer of the trunk or treat Greg Lovell. “Just because a storm comes through, just because weather and their homes are questionable, we’re not going to stop till we make sure that they know that people care about them and tonight’s about them.”
