All proceeds from the tournament will benefit Special Olympics of New Hanover County which provides free services to about 600 local athletes and their families annually.

“If you’ve never been out there to see just the joy and their faces light up whenever they make an accomplishment or make that milestone, you definitely need to experience that,” said Tiffany Lesley, spokesperson for Special Olympics of New Hanover County. “Volunteers are always needed.”

“When our Knights go over and volunteer, all I hear is you gotta do it,” said Bob Benazzi, who serves as the Grand Knight of the KOC Wilmington Council 1074.

In addition to this event, the KOC Wilmington Council 1074 is very active with other needs in the community. More recently, they’ve undertaken a number of projects to assist flood victims impacted by Hurricane Florence.

“Our members have spent over 800 hours on hurricane relief and we think it will probably go until the end of the month,” Benazzi said.

The Wilmington Council 1074 Charity Golf Tournament will be held at Pine Valley Country Club located at 500 Pine Valley Drive. It starts at 8 a.m. Click here to register now.
