Plate after plate, notable chefs win the crowd

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — From smoked salmon to coffee-rubbed beef, a few notable chefs were cooking up a hearty meal at the Hotel Ballast in downtown Wilmington on Saturday.

The Chefs’ Showcase was the kick-off North Carolina Azalea Festival season in Wilmington.
Hundreds were in attendance for this 5-course meal. Each plate was paired with a complimentary wine.

This year the program had a raffle for a 5 day, 4 night stay in Sonoma, California at Savor California’s Wine Country.

“Anytime you get a chance to come to an event like this, it’s well worth the money,” said satisfied guest Matt Simms.  “There’s a lot more to it, as well,…the music and the entertainment and, of course, you’re going to leave with a full belly.”

Chefs include Chef James Peterson of the Sedgefield Country Club, Corporate Chef of LM Restaurants Steve Foote, Southern Smoke BBQ’s Chef Matt Register, Hotel Ballast’s Chef William ‘Kelly’ Robey and Baker Claire Ptak, known for her royal wedding cake.
