WPD says officers responded to the 2700 block of Carolina Beach Road around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 11 in reference to a hit and run where Jesus Exar Perez-Roblero ran off the road, struck a utility pole, shearing it, and then ran away.

The crash reportedly caused $15,000 worth of damage.

Although Perez-Roblero is not the owner of the car that was left at the scene, police say he was driving it at the time of the crash.

Perez-Roblero, of Wilmington, is charged with hit and run leaving the scene with property damage, reckless driving to endanger the public and operating a vehicle without a license.
