WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)–Over the past few weeks slow starts on the court have cost UNCW mens basketball and it showed again this past Saturday.
The Seahawks fell behind by 19 points in the first half to Elon and were never able to climb their way out of the hole. UNCW cut the Phoenix lead down to four with 1:33 left to go in the game, but could not get the crucial stop down the stretch. The Seahawks were outscored 11-8 the rest of the game as they dropped the CAA contest 89-82. UNCW says to be successful going forward they have to find a way to get off to a better start.
“We could have down a little bit more down the stretch. Some of the shots they hit towards the end, we were in their face. It came down to the start of the game. We got to have better starts than that,” said UNCW sophomore Ty Gadsden.
UNCW will host Towson on Thursday night with a 7:00 P.M. tip-off from Trask Coliseum. It will be game three of the four game home stand for the Seahawks.
